1. Who we are
Loupe is published by CyberShips, Inc., a company based in Japan. You can reach us at info@readloupe.com.
2. What this site is
Loupe publishes research-based articles about consumer products, most of them from crowdfunding campaigns. What our articles are based on, and how we rank things, is set out in our Editorial Policy.
Unless an article says otherwise, we have not physically handled the product it describes. Our articles report what makers and other publications have published, and say plainly which claims we could not check.
3. What our articles are, and are not
This is the part worth reading carefully.
- Our articles are information, not advice. They are not professional, financial, medical, safety, or legal advice, and they are not a recommendation to buy anything.
- Specifications, prices and availability change. Every figure we publish is dated. The date tells you when we checked it, not that it is still true today. Check the seller’s page before you buy.
- We do not make or sell the products we write about. Warranties, returns, delivery and support are between you and the seller.
- Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not a purchase. Campaigns can be delayed, changed, or fail to deliver, and the platform does not guarantee outcomes. Where we cover a live campaign we say so on the page.
- We may be wrong. If we are, tell us and we will correct it — see section 7 of our Editorial Policy.
4. Affiliate links
Some links on this site earn us a commission. Those links are labelled Paid link, and every article carrying them says so at the top. The price you pay is the same either way.
Commissions do not decide what we cover, what we recommend, or the order things appear in. The full statement is in our Affiliate Disclosure.
5. Using this site
You are welcome to read, quote and link to anything here. Please do not:
- Copy substantial parts of our articles and republish them as your own
- Scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other readers
- Use the site to break the law, or to interfere with how it works
- Present our content as endorsed by, or coming from, a maker we write about
The words, tables and images we make are ours. Product names and logos belong to their owners, and appear here to identify what we are writing about.
6. Links to other sites
We link to makers’ pages, campaign pages and other publications. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for what they contain or do. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end of it.
7. No warranty, and the limit of our liability
This site is provided as is. We do not promise that it will always be available, or that everything on it is complete, current, or free of error.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss you suffer from relying on this site — including a product not meeting your expectations, a campaign not delivering, or a price or specification having changed since we checked it.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud.
8. Email
If you are on our mailing list, it is because you asked to be. You can leave at any time using the link in any message, and we act on it — see our Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update this page. The date at the top changes when we do. If we change something that materially affects readers, we will say so on the page rather than editing it quietly.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, where Loupe is operated. This does not remove protections you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
